The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi, is finally coming to Mohali. The Punjab government has decided to hand over Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology in Phase VII to NIFT, besides giving special funds. Classes will start from the next academic session. After Chheb in Kangra, Mohali is going to be the second NIFT campus in the region.

For the last around two years, the issue of providing suitable land to the premier fashion institute was pending. Last year the industries department had written a letter to Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) to identify suitable site either at Mohali or Ludhiana.
